The Dynamixel-P is a new line of advanced actuators from Robotis with very high torque, high resolution and extremely low backlash. The M42-10-S260-R offers a torque of 1.5Nm (15.3 kgf.cm) and resolution of 263168 steps/turn. The Dynamixel-P servos are available from Robotis with an 5 week lead time. The Dynamixel-P employs a detachable cycloidal gear reduction to achieve this and uses the new Dynamixel 2.0 protocol for even more advanced control and communication.

Dynamixel-P Actuators are available in a combination of Motor / Gearbox geometry / Gear reduction and different interfaces. Please refer to the graph below to learn how to read the model numbers.

Dynamixel-P servos are compatible with the USB2Dynamixel boards using RS485 interface and the Dynamixel 2.0 interface. See the Dynamixel-P Quick Start for more information.

Key features of Dynamixel-P Servos

Integrated robot-driving device: Contains all necessary features for robot joints integrated into a single module. Strong and durable reduction cycloid gearing: Dynamixel-P implements removable reduction cycloid gears. Small and lightweight cycloids allow a high-ratio reduction gear device. Also cycloid gears are more resistant to vibrations and impacts resulting in minimal backlash.

Variety of models: Dynamixel-P motor, redactor, reduction ratio, communications type, etc have been accommodated to meet various price ranges. The user is able to choose the most proper Dynamixel-P model necessary for the robot.

Variety of control algorithms: Dynamixel-P position, velocity, and electrical current can be controlled via algorithms. The user can control these 3 aspects in any combination and properly tune the robot. Dynamixel-P provides a graph illustrating the relationship between electrical current and torque. This feature is useful for torque control via current control.

Precision control: with a maximum of up to 501900 units per revolution the user can control 0.0007 degrees per unit allowing for high-precision control with extremely low backlash.
