RICKIE

Rickie is one of its kind 1.2m tall humanoid robot that rides a Segway. His head has two cameras that are remotely linked to an Oculus Rift virtual reality headset that allows the remote operator to be fully immersed in the telepresence robot.

Rickie is a unique telepresence robot capable of interacting with people, recognizing their faces and can read their name if they carry a nametag. It is capable of heavy computation thanks to its i7 based computer and can do indoor localisation therefore knowing where he is at a venue and thus able to measure geo-located parameters such as temperature, people density, ambient light and air quality. This data can be streamed for real-time analysis. Goes without saying his body is composed of 3D printed parts in addition to other fast prototyping machined components.
