Quick overview

Rover 5 Tank Chassis is a new breed of tracked robot chassis designed specifically for students and hobbyist. Unlike conventional tracked chassis’s the clearance can be adjusted by rotating the gearboxes in 5-degree increments. “Stretchy” rubber treads maintain tension as the clearance is raised.

Included in the bundle

1 x Dagu - Rover 5 Robot Platform (2 motors + 2 encoders)
1 x Dagu - 4 Channel DC Motor Controller with Encoder Support
1 x Spider Controller with ATmega 2560

Dagu - Rover 5 Arduino Kit (2 motors and 2 encoders)

Rover 5 Tank Chassis is a new breed of tracked robot chassis designed specifically for students and hobbyist. Unlike conventional tracked chassis’s the clearance can be adjusted by rotating the gearboxes in 5-degree increments. “Stretchy” rubber treads maintain tension as the clearance is raised.

Inside of the chassis are 4 noise suppression coils at the bottom and a battery holder that accepts 6x AA batteries (not included). It is recommended to use NiMh batteries as they last longer and have a higher current output than Alkaline batteries.

Each gearbox has an 87:1 ratio and includes an optical quadrature encoder that gives 1000 pulses over 3 revolutions of the output shaft. The chassis can be upgraded to include four motors and encoders making it ideal for mecanum wheels.

Motor rated voltage 7.2V
Motor stall current: 2.5A
Output shaft stall torque: 10Kg/cm
Gearbox ratio: 86.8:1
Encoder type: Quadrature
Encoder resolution: 1000 state changes per 3 wheel rotations
Speed: 1Km/hr
Two motors Two encoders
Encoder interface: Red = +5V, Black = 0V, Yellow = Signal B, White = Signal A

Arduino Mega

The MEGA is designed for more complex projects. With 54 digital I/O pins, 16 analog inputs and a larger space for your sketch it is the recommended board for 3D printers and robotics projects. This gives your projects plenty of room and opportunities.

The Arduino Mega is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega2560. It has 54 digital input/output pins (of which 15 can be used as PWM outputs), 16 analog inputs, 4 UARTs (hardware serial ports), a 16 MHz crystal oscillator, a USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header, and a reset button. It contains everything needed to support the microcontroller; simply connect it to a computer with a USB cable or power it with a AC-to-DC adapter or battery to get started.
