I'm always amazed when a new brand manages to succeed in a big way while coming in late into the scene, bringing nothing new in terms of technology but instead focus on better usability, pretty interface and a on providing a subliminal comfort level that appeals to a wider audience

This kickstarter item called Twine is similar to our linuxified framework; add a plus a few hours worth of product page text, AJAX web page design and a blue plastic box.
AND, but here's the million dollar "and" - two cool MIT guys talking cool

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sup ... e-internet

May be the mysterious of marketing, may be our unknown mind...

After a first and fast look they are speaking to any people browsing, you can't see any electronics, only a green (blue?) plastic box, two batteries a simple web page to control it,...

In the other hand, how popular were they previously, at MIT, their University,...? Do they know people which can launch them? I have known a lot of surprisingly success initiative that, simply, were discretly but powerful backed. Of course that some fail or don't do so good.
