Hobby Humanoid robots can be programmed to perform human-like movements and can function autonomously by remote control
Robo-One is a popular martial arts competition for robots held in Japan and Korea.
These humanoid come unassembled in a box with hundreds of little parts
and several servo actuators. Check out for example the KHR-1 Assembly pages or the Robonova Assembly pages.
Bundled PC software is used for managing orchestrated movement
sequences. Using the "catch and play" method one can record position
and transition speeds of servo-driven limbs. Consecutive “pose”
snapshots are played in sequence (through user-defined transition
speeds) to create the effects of walking, kicking, dancing and perform
karate movements.
