Hi everyone,
I'm currently building a simple robot arm for my university project and I'm using two Dynamixel AX-12+ and one RX-28 as the actuators. I need to connect the AX-12+'s to an RS-232 header and the RX-28 to an RS-485 in order to connect it to a dSPACE interface/prototyping board.
To put it simply, I need help figuring out the correct way to connect the headers to the molex cables; I basically have zero experience in this stuff so I may need a fair bit of explaination.............
Thanks in advance! |

Hi
I recommend that you go to the Robotis Website, select DATA THREAD and DOWNLOAD.
Then download the manuals for the AX-12 and the RX servo you have.
In there, you will find some electronics and schematics for interfacing with the servos.
Bear in mind that the AX-12s are HALF DUPLEX servos and therefore they have RX and TX shorted on the same line.
This means you need some additional circuitry (described in the manuals) to interface it to a line that is full duplex (ie has RX and TX as independent lines).
As an alternative, if you'll be working on your computer, you can use a USB2Dynamixel adapter which is a USB part where you connect the servo and exposes a Virtual COM port to your PC.

I could not understand properly the things that you have written. I am using 2 USB2Dynamixiel and conecting to different USB ports. but still can not run the 2 diffirent motors(AX-12 and RX-28 or 64) at the same time. I think I can not connect AX-12 and RX-28 to one USB2Dynamixiel, am I right? if not Could you please help.
