I just applied power from an AC/DC adapter. I suspect it may have been a polarity issue. I've since tried applying power from 4 AA batteries...the burnt component just heats up...no response from the board.

Ohh Champ, what did you do?? Shocked

Its repairable. Its only an low ESR Elco from Epcos. Normally u can fix it.But i dont think its the only thing you send to hell Sad
