Vstone seems to be really leading the way these days, with its inexpensive entry-level robot the $500 Robovie-nano, and now with its Robovie-PC. Sure, its $4500USD (£2828) but it offers amazing possibilities. It has an embedded 1.6 GHz CPU that can run Windows and Linux and a 1.6 megapixel CMOS camera comes standard.

That means hobbyists will be able to add more complex image processing features as well as speech recognition and synthesis, and many other features, if they can program.
