I have some footage of Rook's Pawn at the Robogames. I'll look through the videos and see if there are any parts that show the torso rotation well.

Thanks guys!

I actually milled out a dreadfull fiece of junk last night supposing to be his torso but it ended up to look like a soccer player in a silver t-shirt. (because I used my "silver-carbon-hi-tech-very-expensive-sheet")
I even incorporated the body armor from RN-1 but still he looks like a joke 8O
I wont show you a picture ( yes it's THAT ugly) - I need to puzzle this out how he should look - I might go for a "Quasimodo look"you know like a heavy overbody hanging down with looong arms or perghaps (my favorit) the robot from robocop "We are goint to war" and he reply "WAAAR" with his half open steel jaws! Remember him?

Perhaps I should ask my wife to kick my butt and go for the "twist" - It's so nice when our love ones shows interest in our hobbies - isn't it Matt!?

Anyway I must be carefull not to rush the result because I'm getting closer to my next three month contract at sea - Perhaps I should spend those months to come up with some good ideas!!?? :?

Hey,
I have a couple of videos that show the torso rotation okay. If you are interested in seeing them, here are the links.

OK - that's the first time I see the Rook's Pawn do some move - hmmm a bit 'nervous' movements I guess 8O U see thats why I've falled in love with this OmniZero - he's a cool little raddish with floating moves. 8)

Anyway I have desided to make the pivoting torso and also know how to approach it. Another thing is that I will ditch the RN-controller and instead use my SD21 with a Basic Stamp controller. I don't know about you but I find the RN-controller very sluggish! Meaning that you just can't expect it to do the moves smoothly!?
Also I have desided to place the batteries in the feet just as Matt do.

Right now i'm awaiting some more carbon fiber sheets to arrive before I can start mill the parts.

Neat. That was the first time I've see him in action since the games. ...not the best performance, but...

It's true, he was a tad on the slow & unstable side. Both Tony and I were having balancing issues.

bracket patterns?

It looks like those brackets could be made of laser-cut Lexan (e.g. by the good folks at Pololu), for those poor saps among us who don't have a CNC machine in our garage.

Any chance you could post drawings of the parts you have made so far? Maybe we could start a sort of open-source Robo-One project, based on parts that can be either bought or made with cutting services like this.

Best,
- Joe

Ooh, pretty! That looks great Viking, Im very interested in how this project is going. With any luck, you'll be sending OmniZero home in a coffin :)
