thanks for the picture. Those shoulder joints are not exposed. they can move in 2 directions and have some spring action.
we are stuck with servos that are backwards compatible 1980's Futaba analogs designed to hold the steering wheels' position of a remote controlled car :cry:

Indeed. Commercial volume is still driven by the RC hobby industry I'm afraid so for quite some time I would not expect such servos to hit our shops... [sadly].
