Need help - original KHR-1 kit missing parts?

We recently picked up an original KHR-1 kit, not the 1HV or the 2HV, but the original robot that started it all in 2004. We can't wait to assemble the robot so we can test its performance against our other robots in our Human Emulation project.

However, we have run into a bit of trouble. The kit was never assembled before, so all of the parts should be present. But the servo hones are missing. We checked the english version of the manual from Robosavvy which lists the servo hones and washers in the parts list on page 11:

However, when we carefully reviewed the Japanese parts list that came with the kit, there does not appear to be any mention of the servo hones. The only thing we can possibly think of is that the first version of the kit came with the KRS-784 servos and the servo hones came separate. Sometime later the kit switched to the KRS-786 servo, which I believe normally includes the servo hones already attached. Which would explain why our Japanese parts list doesn't mention them separately. Our kit has the KRS-786 servos, but no servo hones. A review of the parts list shows it is version 1.3 from September 2005. The CD in the kit has a date of November 2005. In fact, there is a small picture on the side of the box which shows the servos with one side of the servo hone attached, and the other hone laying in front of them.

So is our kit "normal"? Should the servo hones have come included? We are hoping that the old KHR-1 owners can speak to their experiences. Was this a manufacturer error?

In either case, it looks like we need to spend an extra $70 to buy the servo hones and free hones. We are still very excited about the kit, but this means a delay of a few weeks at least. Any help would be appreciated.
