Connecting Servos To RCB-1 There are two types of Servo Extenders. 6 of 10cm (3.93 inches) and 2 of 20cm (7.87 inches). I used the long ones to extend the foot servo cable as it had the longest way to reach the RCB-1s. 4 of the 10cm extenders were used for the legs and 2 for the hands. Each servo has a designated channel when connected to the RCB-1 boards. These channel mappings are not mandatory but make lots of sense. In order not to make mistakes when connecting the servos to the RCB-1s, the manual recommends placing stickers with numbers on the servos. The stickers are found behind the CD that's attached. We finally attach each servo to the designated channel input on the RCB-1s following the manual's diagram. Note that no matter where a servo connector is linked onto an RCB-1 board, the black line (the connector has black, red, white lines) is always on the "outside" relative the the RCB-1. The manual says that if you don't do that, you risk destroying the boards. In the next part we start seeing stuff move finally. I was immediately tempted to turn on the robot and see all the servos move at once to the "Initial Position". So much excitement.. I had to catch it on video. | | Back to "Initial Position" when turned on |
